A note from the founder
The idea for Spatial came together on a roadtrip with my wife, Sissy. We were listening to Chip and Joanna Gaines on How I Built This, talking about design and how they built their company. I’d recently been through a series of management personality assessments — Myers-Briggs, DiSC, Teamalytics. They mapped how I worked, communicated, led. And on that drive, Sissy asked the question that started Spatial:
“Why isn’t there something like this for interior design? Something that learns your taste and applies it to your actual home?”
We are homeowners, not designers. And we had been frustrated more than once: before bringing in a designer, we didn’t actually know what we wanted. We could point at inspiration photos without being able to explain what they had in common. Existing AI design tools generated beautiful but generic rooms that didn’t reflect how we actually lived.
So I built it — first for us. Months later, Spatial had evolved into something bigger: a patent-pending platform that learns your taste through everything you do, applies it to your real rooms, and lets you try on furniture and decor in your own space before you commit.
It started as a personal project. It works because it was built by a homeowner, for homeowners — informed by what we actually needed, not what a design system thought we should want.
Your home should feel like you. We hope Spatial helps you get there — as it’s helped us.
